FlightAware Integration - Operator Users

Aircraft operators can track flight status changes and easily send email updates as events occur

'Flight Following' is an available module on your custom schedule that allows you to track flight status changes and easily send email updates to trip stakeholders as events occur.

These events can be automatically updated from your FlightAware Global account and emails can be automatically sent to aircraft stakeholders.

Users of FlightAware Global can now receive scheduled flight and FBO information directly from FlightBridge before a flight plan is even filed, enabling more proactive tracking by both the operator and FBO without requiring FBO selection or data entry on FlightAware.

Additionally, business aviation operators and FBOs using FlightBridge now benefit from FlightAware’s real-time flight tracking status information including Ready To Taxi™ surface events such as powered-on, taxied-out, and parked times. These features are available to customers of both products when the aircraft operator has opted-in by enabling the two-way integration in the FlightBridge application.

To Activate:

  1. First ensure that you are logged into both your FlightAware account and your FlightBridge account.

  2. In FlightBridge - From the menu bar, select Setup > Schedules > Flight Following Setup and then click Link with FlightAware.

  3. This will direct you to the page in your FlightAware account where you will see the “Request to Access and Link to your FlightAware Account” page. Click Allow Access.

  4. Once the request has been completed, your accounts are linked and flight following will be automatically updated in FlightBridge from your FlightAware feed.

  5. You will want to ensure you have alerts created within FlightAware. To do so, select My Alerts from within your FlightAware Account.

  6. In the Flight Following Setup in FlightBridge you can opt to select to share trip data with FlightAware through the two-way integration. This grants permission for FlightAware to share aircraft position updates with the FBOs for each scheduled trip.  FBOs that subscribe to FlightBridge to manage their schedule will now have real-time updates of arrival times on their FlightBridge schedule. This integration provides the more efficient experience of seeing information from both platforms in a single display. Additionally, FlightAware FBO Toolbox users will now see scheduled flights from FlightBridge before a flight plan is even filed and know if the aircraft will be arriving at their FBO.

  7. After activation, you will want to ensure that your schedule view in FlightBridge is configured properly to view the FF updates.

  8. Under the trips menu, select Schedules and open your schedule view. If you do not see a Flight Following column, you will need to add it.

  9. Go to Setup > Schedules Setup > Select your Schedule to update.

  10. On the far right under Schedule Columns, select Flight Following from the drop-down list under “Column to Add” then assign a sort order (to place it just before or just after your rollup columns), and then click Add Column.

  11. Repeat this and select New ETA from the drop-down column to add and assign sort order to place it next to Flight Following, then Add Column and Save.

  12. Once this has been completed you can return to your schedule view and confirm that you are now able to see the Flight Following and New ETA columns.

Info: If you have not already done so, please send a .jpeg or .png file of your logo to FlightBridge Support to be uploaded to your account. This will ensure that the emails generated to your stakeholders will display your brand.
